OSHA Focus 4 Campaign

OSHA, MOSH, MCN and other construction industry partners, have initiated a “Focus Four Hazards” campaign throughout OSHA’s Region III’s jurisdiction from March through June of 2018. The goal of this campaign is to raise awareness in the recognition, evaluation, and control of these hazards through the delivery of toolbox talks for employers to provide to their workers.

Focus Four Hazards account for the majority of injuries and fatalities in the construction industry. The leading causes of worker deaths on construction sites were falls, followed by struck-by, electrocution, and caught-in/between. These “Fatal Four” hazards were responsible for well over half (64%) of the construction worker deaths in 2016*, according to BLS reports.

A series of Toolbox Talks is being provided to companies as and aid in presenting this important information. These talks will be available in a traditional flyer format as well as a newly released recorded audio format. Future Toolbox Talks will be added as recorded.

Additionally, by registering with Maryland Occupational Safety & Health (MOSH), any company working in the state of Maryland can receive a frame-quality certificate upon voluntary completion of the Focus 4 campaign. For more information and to register, click here.
